AD-HOC PAVILION
Ad Hoc Cabin is a 6'x6'x12' room in a Pennsylvania forest. Instead of being constructed verbatim from a drawing set, the cabin is designed over time through ad hoc experimentation. The project, a design-build endeavor, has been under construction for two years with no projected date of completion, intentionally.
The cabin is inexpensive—costing under $1,000—and is mostly built from leftover materials found on-site. Despite its rigid form, the Ad Hoc Cabin is designed for the ephemerality of the passer-by, with a built-in desk and an accessible roof that serve as spaces for writing, meditating, reflecting, and sleeping…
